Coaching and therapy are similar and strikingly different. Coaching supports people in personal and professional growth through a co-creative coach/client relationship. This means that the coach and client are collaborative in designing a relationship that empowers the client to take charge in their life. Coaching is forward-focused, informed by the past, and directed at the future.
Therapy is based in mental health support, diagnosis, and treatment. It may have some coaching elements and is specialized in supporting people with issues that arise connected to their mental health.
People need different kinds of support at different times in their lives; and coaching and therapy can work well together depending on the needs of the individual. A well-trained coach will know when to refer a client to therapy if their needs are outside the coach's scope.
I offer a free 30 min. connection session. This is a chance for you to experience coaching with me, ask questions, and see if this is a good fit. If it works, I offer several different coaching packages to support the work you're ready to do. I'm also open to working with you to structure a package that works for the aspirations you have.
A typical session will begin with inquiry and setting focus. This tends to happen fast and as a coach I hold and help connect your big agenda - goals/intentions - to the specific work of individual sessions. Where we go in an individual session really depends on what you're working on and where you are wanting to go. Sometimes you come to a session super clear on where you wanting to go and we work together to establish strategies and support to make that happen. Sometimes you're less clear and want space to vision. I'm happy to chat more about what all this can look like and the tools - questions, embodied explorations, shifting ways of thinking and taking action.
Sessions are typically 60 min. long and happen on Zoom or over the phone. If you are in the Denver area we can discuss meeting in person if that is of interest to you.
